Interview With Dundelle (@dun_delle)

This week i had a chat with one of Nigeria's fastest rising act DUNDELLE, Dundelle has been serving hot tracks since she got in the music industry with her unique style and energy you just cant get tired of listening to, you think you know half of what shes got? think again, In this interview she talked about her upcoming projects,life on stage and more

Amole Adunola

What type of music do you make?
HipHop/Rap

What’s your stage name?

How did the stage name come about?
I was named by my producer (Steinebeats). Dun is from my name Adun, Delle - Delicious

What’s your background?
I come from a family of seven. 4 girls and a boy. I'm the last child

When and why did you start making music?
Started 5 years ago with one person that believed in me. Passion made me start. I wanted to be someone.

Do you play any instruments? If yes which instruments do you play?
No I don't

Which famous musician(s) do you admire? Why?
Fela. His music is spiritual. Stood up for Africans as a whole
Tiwa savage. Her music relates with everyone. Nigeria ... Even globally
 Nicki Minaj. She's consistent,thinks out of the box, unpredictable...we don't know what next she wants to take on
  
Were you influenced by any old records & tapes? Which ones?
Yes. Suffering and smiling-fela

What’s your most embarrassing moment as an artiste?
Hahahahaha... I was performing like 2 years ago and u know now we just dey do jamajama.. Little did I know that they were just playing the song from a phone and held a mic very close to d speaker. In my mind I was like ehh! The song sounded off and I was destabilized... Lool


When was your first performance? How did it feel?
27th December,2014. Ahhh! It felt like a challenge


How do you handle mistakes during a performance?
I make them look like its part of the whole performance. When you hit someone,then u turn a wave... Lol


Do you get nervous before a performance?
I used to.. Not anymore. When I think about how much I want this, I don't think I just become. Thank God


What advice would you give to beginners who are nervous?
Don't be,nobody will believe in you if you don't  believe in you


Most people complain about 90% Nigerian music sounding alike? What’s your take on that?
I think most Nigerian artists have different sounds and body of art.


How do you balance your music with other obligations? Like relationship and family
Everything has its own place. I've learnt to deal differently with my music and family


What does “being creative” mean to you?
Being creative is breaking the routine. When I do it my own style and create things that people have never seen but would love sing to, dance to...

  
How do you overcome creative blocks?
I relax...listen to good music that inspire me
  

What are you trying to communicate with your art?
I give the people what they want... I make them dance! Also I try to feel their feelings when I'm
bringing in the motivation


What’s the best advice you ever had about how to be more creative?
To be flexible

Why Music?
Music is spiritual, its where I go to when I’m down, happy, scared…anything you can think of. Music is everything


What food, drink, song inspires you?
Lool..No food inspires me

What do you dislike about the music industry?
Sometimes I notice there's no originality, I feel being real is the only way to up


What is your dream project?
Hmmm.. just watch out for something big from Dun_delle. As regards music, expect creativity, dance-able songs you know? Something to impress and inspire my fans

Professionally, what’s your goal?
I want to give to the world, be an inspiration to the world with my songs, personality and lifestyle

If you could advice upcoming artistes, what would you say?
The difference between the successful people and others is consistency, the will and drive

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I see myself where God and hard work takes me, with God nothing is impossible for me

What project are you working on now?
I'm working on my extended play album (EP) which has been names “THE HEIRESS” because I have conquered and i'm sill conquering
